She was made a Life peer as Baroness Howells of St Davids, of Charlton in the London Borough of Greenwich in 1999. Conference Patron, Barones Howells has supported the ACBN since its inception in 2001, and advocates in the House of Lords for small and minority business owners.


Jennette Arnold OBE AM After a career in nursing, senior roles with the Royal College of Nursing  Jennette found her natural home as a campaigner within political and public life. She was a councillor in Islington for 8 years, including a term as Deputy Mayor, and then was elected to the Greater London Authority as an Assembly Member in 2000. Since 2004 she has represented North East London and in 2008/09 served a term as Chair of the London Assembly. More info

Brett Taylor of London Business Network, will give a presentation entitled: London London 2012 – Leveraging the Games for business advantage’?update on the status of the tendering process of Olympic Contracts - what level of contracts you can expect to be tendered out over the next7/8 months, other opportunities available associated to but not directly attached to the Olympics.  He will also tell us about the launch of the British Business Club, and what it can do for your business.  He will conduct a more in depth workshop in the afternoon session on the same topics,including how to register your business on Competefor.   More Info

Em Ekong - Board of The African Caribbean Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise(ACCCE) will give a short presentation as part of the main plenary I will do the presentation on "Seeing Africa Differently" - How diaspora businesses can take advantage of emerging economies, which will incorporate ACCCE services, our partnership with UKTI, British Business Club, London Business Network and the event in 2012 at Grosvenor House Hotel.
