Want to increase your profile, make your CV more impressive, increase your marketability, all whilst making a difference and having your voice heard...have you considered being on a publicly appointed board?

There are approximately 843 national public bodies in the UK offering in excess of 22,000 public appointments, but women only hold 34% of those positions. More disappointingly, women from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds make  upl ess than 2% of the total figure.

The European Federation of Black Women Business Owners (EFBWBO) put together a programme to redress this disparity.

Women from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds can make a positive contribution to public and private sector boards and committees by providing a wealth of knowledge, experiences, and skills, but they are often excluded from participation because of the male dominated structure of appointments, closed networks and a lack of knowledge of some of the key competencies required for boards and committees.

If you own your own business or you are a senior member of a business with 5 – 249 employees; The Women On Boards programme could provide the opportunity for you in to gain the skills an knowledge to help increase their chances of board and committee appointments by delivering a programme that is designed to identify the challenges participants face in obtaining board positions and to develop practical strategies to enhance their appointment opportunities:-

The Programme will include:- Individual Training Needs Analysis, Coaching sessions, Psychometric testing

Plus Workshops on: How Boards Function, Competencies require for boards, Speed reading, Presenting yourself, Public Speaking, Mind Mapping, Board Observation, Mentoring sessions, Boardroom etiquette, Networking Opportunities, and much much more.

Is the Programme For You? A recent report by the government Indentified some of the key behavioral skills required at boardroom level, amongst them were:- Sound Judgment, Ability to question intelligently, Ability to debate constructively, Ability to challenge rigorously, Ability to decide passionately, to be well informed about the business.
